Research Interest
Modular Enzyme Mechanisms and Engineering- Define how module organization, interdomain interactions, substrate channeling, and molecular gatekeeping govern enzyme function.
- Redesign modules and interfaces to control assembly-line activity and product structure.
Chemical Building Units for Modular Enzymes- Develop biosynthetic pathways that produce diverse CoA-derived starter and extender units for modular enzymes.
- Balance precursor supply, CoA metabolism, and pathway flux to expand accessible chemical structures.
Enzyme Engineering for PET-Derived Feedstocks- Engineer enzymes that convert terephthalate, ethylene glycol, and related PET depolymerization products into biosynthetic intermediates.
- Optimize substrate specificity, activity, and pathway compatibility for high-value chemical production.
